Holy Spirit Jesus Christ One God

Humbly, Humbly, We Adore Thee

We went to the Lutheran church a block from our home for the Christmas Eve service. We enjoyed the carol singing and candle lighting last year and did it again for the joy in remembering Christ’s birth with others. I did notice the confusion that exists on Who God is, and who His Son is.

Up front on the left they have a stained-glass window with the “Creator” forming the earth, sun, and planets. In the center of the altar is a giant cross, big enough for a real person to hang on. And to the right of that is another stained-glass window with a dove. They acknowledge God as Creator, but don’t recognize what Jesus taught–that God is Spirit and God is holy [John 4:24; Matthew 6:9]. God calls Himself our Father because we are born again of His incorruptible seed. He also calls Himself the “Holy Spirit” whenever he works with men and women who have His spirit in them.

Jesus said that he is God’s Son, the Messiah, the Lamb to take away the world’s sin. And now Jesus is Lord of all at God’s right hand. I’m thankful to bow in humble gratitude and praise for all he has done for me and you and all who accept his work of love. Now we are saved with eternal life. Amen.

[Sung to the Tune of “Ode to Joy” from Ludwig Van Beethoven’s Symphony no. 9 in D minor]

Humbly, humbly, we adore thee,
God our Father, for Your Word,
Now made flesh in Christ our Savior,
Risen as our healing Lord.
May we ever, thankful, joyful,
Honor You in all we do.
May our hearts resound with singing
For Your promise now come true.

Humbly, humbly, we adore thee,
Jesus, Son of God, our Friend.
For you gave your life to save us,
Glorious life that never ends.
May we too be true and faithful,
As you showed in all your days.
May we walk by your pure spirit,
Serving you in all our ways.

Humbly, humbly, we bless others,
Offering our tender care.
May our lives shine forth in vict’ry
Making Christ known everywhere.
Free from sin and guilt and sickness,
Overcoming fear and death.
Let us give with all our heart
And mind and strength till our last breath.
