It REALLY IS a wonderful life in Christ. The thing that turned things around for George Bailey was when Mary and the kids prayed for him–as well as many others who loved and appreciated him. That’s a key to our “wonderful life.” It is FULL of wonders. The Book of Acts shows God working in the life of the early church believers. The Biblical Greek word for “wonders” [teras] is used nine times in Acts.
2:19,22,43:
And I will shew WONDERS in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke.
Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and WONDERS and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know.
And fear came upon every soul: and many WONDERS and signs were done by the apostles.
These verses occur on Pentecost and the days thereafter. Peter boldly quoted from the Prophet Joel to show that God was pouring out His spirit upon those who believed in His Son. God HAD proven Jesus was the Messiah by the wonders people saw in his earthly ministry. Once born again, the apostles were doing the same wondrous deeds that their master had shown them.
4:30; 5:12:
By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and WONDERS may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.
And by the hands of the apostles were many signs and WONDERS wrought among the people; and they were all with one accord in Solomon’s porch.
Here is a GREAT example of answered prayer. The apostles and disciples asked God to stretch forth His mighty hand of power in the authority and name of the risen Christ. The apostles followed through and their Lord worked with them, bringing to pass signs and wonders among the people.
6:8:
And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great WONDERS and miracles among the people.
Here is another example of wonders “among the people.” That’s where they happen. When we are out with PEOPLE, sharing the truth and walking in love, by the spirit within.
7:36:
He brought them out, after that he had shewed WONDERS and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years.
The same God Who parted the Red Sea and brought manna in the wilderness is OUR HEAVENLY FATHER today. We can expect to see Him come through for us. As it says in Romans 8, if God gave us His Son, what else would He possibly not give?
14:3; 15:12:
Long time therefore abode they speaking boldly in the Lord, which gave testimony unto the word of his grace, and granted signs and WONDERS to be done by their hands.
Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and WONDERS God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.
Paul and Barnabas ministered many places, including Iconium in Asia Minor. While boldly speaking gracious words there, God “granted,” He gave them, wonders by their hands. WE work with our hands, and THE LORD brings to pass the wonders. Matthew 9:8 describes how people were amazed and “wondered” at what Jesus was able to do. “But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men.” It is God, our Father, Who gives His power and authority that we claim in Christ. Then people will glorify HIM as WE faithfully believe to serve in love.
Even if we don’t live in “Bedford Falls,” we have a WONDER-FULL life as we walk with the Father and serve in love.
