Jesus shared his heart with thoseWho traveled with him day by day.
When his life was soon to end,
He told them what he had to say.
“Don’t let your hearts be sad or troubled,
You trust in God, so trust in me.
My Father’s house has many mansions,
I’ll prepare them, just you see!”
“And if I go, I’ll come again
And take you where I too will go.
And you’ll be with me, where I am,
The way to which you surely know.”
Thomas said unto his Lord,
“How can we know the way you lead?”
Jesus answered with a smile,
“Listen to my words, take heed!”
“I am the true and living way;
None reach the Father, but by me.
Know me and you know my Father,
You will see Him, guaranteed.”
Philip next addressed the Master,
“Show the Father, ‘twill suffice.”
Jesus answered, “How long, Philip,
Have I been before your eyes?”
“He who sees me, sees the Father.
Don’t you know that I’m in Him?
He is in me. What I’m speaking
Are His words I give to men.”
“Father does the works you’re seeing,
Believe I’m in Him, He in me.
If you can’t, then let the works
He does within me, prove to thee.”
“I must go unto my Father,
Believe me and such works you’ll do.
Even greater than you’ve seen me,
Works of God are meant for you!”
“And whatever you shall ask
In my name, that will I do.
Then you’ll see my Father’s glory,
In His Son. My words are true.”
“If you love me, keep what I’ve said,
And I’ll pray my Father sure.
He will give a comfort to you,
That forever will endure.”
“This true spirit that He gives
Those in the world will never get.
They don’t know or see God in them,
But He dwells within you yet.”
“I will come and bring you comfort,
But a while, I will be gone.
The world won’t see, but you will see me.
You will live ‘cause I live on!”
“On that day, you’ll know I’m in Him.
I will be in you as well.
He who loves me, keeps my sayings,
And obeys whate’er I tell.”
“Father loves all those who love me.
And I too will love them all.
Manifest myself unto them,
Those who answer Father’s call.”
Judas asked him [not the traitor],
How he’d manifest to them,
While the world would never see it.
Jesus answered once again.
“If you love me, keep my sayings,
Father loves you, comes inside.
He and I will dwell within you,
Father’s words in me abide.”
“I’ve said these things being present,
But the spirit Father sends,
In my name, will teach you all things,
You’ll remember to the end.”
“Peace I leave with you and give you,
Unlike peace the world will give.
Let your hearts be never troubled,
Fear not, for in me you’ll live.”
“You’ve heard I will come back to you,
If you loved me, joy would swell.
For I go unto my Father,
He is greater than myself.”
“I’ve told you long before things happen,
That you might on me believe.
Now the world’s prince comes against us,
Nothing in me he receives.”
“The world will know I love the Father,
And have done what He has said.
I have done all that He gave me.
Rise, let’s go, there’s work ahead.”
