What are the great moments of life? Fellowship with God and His Son are the key to joyous times [1 John 1:3,4].
Solomon, when he was in fellowship with God, wrote about what we can enjoy in our lives. He concludes with the greatest part of life.
Ecclesiastes 12:13:
Let us hear the CONCLUSION of the whole matter: Fear [LOVE AND RESPECT] GOD, and keep his commandments: for this is the WHOLE DUTY of man.
Here are some answers to the question “What are the great moments of life?” that led to this conclusion.
1. We can do the best we can at whatever we do. We don’t “leave anything on the field” of life.
Ecclesiastes 3:12:
I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to REJOICE, and to DO GOOD in his life.
2. We can enjoy all the “normal” moments of life: eating together, working a job, caring for our families. These are the great things God gives us to do.
Ecclesiastes 5:18:
Behold that which I have seen: it is good and comely for one to eat and to drink, and to ENOY THE GOOD OF ALL HIS LABOUR that he taketh under the sun all the days of his life, which GOD GIVETH HIM: for it is his portion.
3. Life seems to go by quickly. But the great and truly memorable moments are when God speaks with His still, small voice and guides our hearts to do His will. That is the purest joy in life.
Ecclesiastes 5:20 :
For he shall not much remember the DAYS OF HIS LIFE; because GOD ANSWERETH HIM IN THE JOY OF HIS HEART.
4. A good question is “who knows what we should do to be good?” There is a simple answer, “God does.”
Ecclesiastes 6:12 :
For who knoweth what is GOOD FOR A MAN IN THIS LIFE, all the days of his vain life which he spendeth as a shadow? for who can tell a man what shall be after him under the sun?
5. One of the great joys of married life is to thank the Father for our spouses. They are truly a gift that we can love and cherish all the days we are together. What a joy to become “one flesh” and live in unity with another person.
Ecclesiastes 9:9:
LIVE JOYFULLY WITH THE WIFE whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which HE [GOD] HATH GIVEN THEE under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun.
