Unanimously Living for God

I have a copy of the “unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united states of America” on my desk. Being a Latin teacher, I like words like “unanimous.” As you can figure out from unicycle, “uni” means “one” [the universe, verto means “turn,” turns as one]. The Latin word “animus” means mind or life [“animals” are “animated” with a mind]. So, these thirteen different states were of “one mind” on overcoming the political oppression they faced and moving ahead as one new nation. What about those of us who are “one new body” in Christ? Can we be unanimous?
Romans 15:6:
That ye may with ONE MIND and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 13:11 :
Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of ONE MIND, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

Philippians 1:27 :
Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with ONE MIND striving together for the faith of the gospel.

Philippians 2:2 :
Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of ONE MIND.

1 Peter 3:8 :
Finally, be ye all of ONE MIND, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous.

It looks like we CAN! Let’s do it to the best of our abilities and thank the Father for forgiveness if we don’t. After all, that’s why Jesus Christ gave his life for us. And now LIVES within us by God’s spirit.

Amen. I love you.
