Satan IS Defeated!

Satan and his host of evil spirits ARE ALREADY DEFEATED.

Our Authority in Christ to Defeat Satan

Jesus saw Satan’s defeat when he sent out 72 disciples. This may have included each of the 12 apostles with 5 others in their “team.” They healed the sick and cast out evil spirits.

Luke 10:18,19:
And he said unto them, I beheld SATAN as lightning FALL FROM HEAVEN.
Behold, I give unto you power [AUTHORITY] to tread on serpents and scorpions [EVIL SPIRITS], and over all the power of the enemy [SATAN]: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

We can be fearless and defeat Satan and his forces because we have the authority of Christ backing us up.

Evil spirits are more scared OF YOU than you are of them.

James 2:19:
Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the DEVILS also believe, and TREMBLE.

The devil can only roar and CANNOT get to us when we humble ourselves to God and accept HIS mighty power in Christ.

1 Peter 5:6-9:
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may EXALT YOU in due time:
Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a ROARING LION, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
Whom RESIST STEDFAST in the faith.

We are seated far above the Devil and his spiritual powers. We live IN this world, but we are NOT subject to it!

Ephesians 2:6:
And hath raised us up together, and MADE US SIT TOGETHER IN HEAVENLY PLACES in Christ Jesus.

As God’s children, we are joint heirs with Christ [Romans 8:17] and claim victory in him.

1 John 5:4:
For whosoever is BORN OF GOD overcometh the world: and this is the VICTORY that overcometh the world, even OUR FAITH [in Christ].

God’s Plan of Redemption and Victory Over Satan

As soon as Adam and Eve fell prey to the Devil’s attack in the garden, God promised to send a Savior to redeem all people. This Messiah would crush Satan’s head.

Genesis 3:15:
And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her SEED [the Messiah, Jesus Christ]; it SHALL BRUISE THY [the serpent, Satan’s] HEAD, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

David prophesied of the coming Messiah. God put ALL THINGS UNDER Christ’s feet.

Psalms 8:6:
Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his [Christ’s] feet.

Christ would bruise Satan and his evil spirits so that they could not rise. That will come to pass in the future when death, the grave, and Satan are destroyed. God uses “fire” to show that Christ’s bruising will be permanent.

Psalms 18:38:
I have WOUNDED [BRUISED] THEM that they were NOT ABLE TO RISE: they are fallen UNDER MY FEET.

Revelation 20:10,14:
And THE DEVIL that deceived them WAS CAST INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are.
And DEATH AND HELL [THE GRAVE] WERE CAST INTO THE LAKE OF FIRE.

This ultimate victory has not yet occurred. We don’t see Satan destroyed at this time.

Hebrews 2:8:
Thou hast put ALL THINGS IN SUBJECTION UNDER HIS FEET. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see NOT YET ALL THINGS PUT UNDER HIM.

Our Victory Today

But even today, we have victory over Satan when we claim our rights in Christ. Jesus Christ is Lord over all [Philippians 2:9-11]. The risen Christ continues to reign at the Father’ right hand. Some day all things will be set right and God’s justice will prevail through His Son!

1 Corinthians 15:25,27:
For he must reign, TILL HE HATH PUT ALL ENEMIES UNDER HIS FEET.
For he [God] hath put all things under his [Christ’s] feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he [God] is excepted, which did put all things under him [Christ].

And WE REIGN WITH HIM! We are members of Christ’s body, the church. All things are also under OUR feet.

Ephesians 1:21,22:
Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
AND HATH PUT ALL THINGS UNDER HIS FEET, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church.

Romans 5:17:
For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall REIGN IN LIFE by one, Jesus Christ.

Destroying the Devil’s Works

Jesus healed ALL who were oppressed by demonic forces.

Acts 10:38:
How God anointed JESUS OF NAZARETH with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and HEALING ALL THAT WERE OPPRESSED OF THE DEVIL; for God was with him.

Hebrews 2:14:
Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he [Jesus] also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he MIGHT DESTROY HIM THAT HAD THE POWER OF DEATH, THAT IS, THE DEVIL.

Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil.

1 John 3:8:
For this purpose the SON OF GOD was manifested, that he might DESTROY THE WORKS OF THE DEVIL.

Satan wants to bruise people. His great desire is to steal from, kill, and destroy God’s people [John 10:10]. But Christ brings a more abundant life! Jesus stopped Satan from bruising those afflicted by him. We see this when a man brought his son to the Lord for healing.

Luke 9:39,42:
And, lo, a SPIRIT taketh him, and he suddenly crieth out; and it teareth him that he foameth again, and BRUISING HIM hardly departeth from him.
And as he was yet a coming, the devil threw him down, and tare him. And JESUS REBUKED THE UNCLEAN SPIRIT, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.

Jesus bruised the spirit that had been bruising. Evil spirits often fled screaming in pain when Jesus rebuked them. We can do the same with “Christ in” us [Colossians 1:27].

Under OUR Feet!

We have the “spirit of Christ” in us [Romans 8:9]. We put on this “new man” [Ephesians 4:24; Colossians 3:10] and are then able to see God bruise Satan UNDER OUR FEET!

Romans 16:20:
And the GOD of peace SHALL BRUISE SATAN UNDER YOUR FEET shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

It is ONLY by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that we are able to defeat the adversary. Let’s win the victory today.

I took a boxing class in college and was amazed at the strength and endurance needed to handle two-minute rounds. When it comes to standing against Satan, we have God’s strength in Christ. The Devil MUST RUN AWAY FROM US in defeat.

1 Peter 5:8,9 [The Passion Translation]:
Be well balanced and always alert, because YOUR ENEMY, THE DEVIL, roams around incessantly, like a roaring lion looking for its prey to devour.
TAKE A DECISIVE STAND AGAINST HIM AND RESIST HIS EVERY ATTACK with strong, vigorous faith. For you know that your believing brothers and sisters around the world are experiencing the same kinds of troubles you endure.

James 4:7 [The Passion Translation]:
So then, surrender to God. STAND UP TO THE DEVIL AND RESIST HIM AND HE WILL TURN AND RUN AWAY FROM YOU.

We don’t “shadow box,” but “knock out” Satan in our daily lives. Paul understood this truth well.

1 Corinthians 9:26 [The Passion Translation]:
For that reason, I don’t run just for exercise or BOX LIKE ONE THROWING AIMLESS PUNCHES.

Remember that Jesus saw Satan fall from heaven. He is a DEFEATED FOE and we have daily VICTORY IN CHRIST!

1 Corinthians 15:57 [The Passion Translation]:
But we thank God for GIVING US THE VICTORY as conquerors THROUGH OUR LORD JESUS, the Anointed One.
