A New Song for Today

Psalms 98:1:
O sing unto the LORD a NEW SONG; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.

As sunlight filters through the trees,
And birds begin to sing,
As day dawns fresh and full of hope,
God’s will for us to bring.

I can’t but help to lift my heart,
And shout forth hymns of joy,
Because I have another day
To live as God’s own boy.

And like so many others,
Born of God’s pure seed,
Those who believe on Jesus Christ,
His every word and deed.

We have a life that’s full of grace
And mercy, peace, and love.
That springs from riches far beyond
In heaven’s trove above.

And as this day begins anew
I know when dusk lights fall,
I’ll have more to be thankful for
In answering God’s call.

So let us fall down on our knees
Or stand with joyful shout,
Or run with fervor, spirit filled,
To see what life’s about.

And as the night falls bringing rest
From doing Father’s will,
I’ll thank my Lord and Savior, Christ,
Peace in my heart so still.
