God’s Joy in Our Hearts

Don’t cry! God has given you joy of heart.

David was a man, and a king, after God’s own heart. He taught his people to GIVE BACK to God with thanksgiving for all that the Lord had done for them.

1 Kings 8:66:
On the eighth day he sent the people away: and they blessed the king, and went unto their tents JOYFUL AND GLAD OF HEART for all the goodness that the LORD HAD DONE for David his servant, and for Israel his people.

1 Chronicles 29:9:
Then the people REJOICED, for that they offered willingly, because with PERFECT HEART they offered willingly to the LORD: and David the king also REJOICED WITH GREAT JOY.

1 Chronicles 29:17:
I know also, my God, that thou triest the heart, and hast pleasure in uprightness. As for me, in the UPRIGHTNESS OF MINE HEART I have willingly offered all these things: and now have I seen WITH JOY thy people, which are present here, to offer willingly unto thee.

Ezra, Nehemiah, and the people rejoiced because God gave them support from a king to rebuild the wall and city they loved. They were strengthened to restore their place of worship. Today we worship God not in Jerusalem or any special place. We can pray in the spirit ANYWHERE and ANY TIME. Jesus told the woman at the well this great truth in John 4:21-24.

Ezra 6:22 :
And kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days WITH JOY: for the LORD had made them JOYFUL, and turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

Our hearts rejoice when we are giving from God’s abundance to us. Job blessed others in need, and brought joy to the heart of women who were alone and widowed.

Job 29:13 :
The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I caused the widow’s HEART TO SING FOR JOY.

Jesus Christ makes us righteous by HIS works, not our own. We can shout for joy because we have access to the Father through him. Let’s keep our hearts “upright,” renewed to the truth of the gospel.

Psalms 32:11 :
Be GLAD IN THE LORD, and REJOICE, ye righteous: and shout for JOY, all ye that are UPRIGHT IN HEART.

Satan tricks some people into doing his evil will. But we teach others about our Father’s goodness, and bring them joy and peace in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Proverbs 12:20:
Deceit is in the heart of them that imagine evil: but to the COUNSELLORS OF PEACE IS JOY.

Each person knows when sadness and hurt comes. But God heals our hearts in Jesus Christ. No one can take that joy from us!

Proverbs 14:10 :
The HEART knoweth his own bitterness; and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his JOY.

Solomon learned that we should thank God each day for His blessings, and let our hearts be filled with HIS joy. When our hearts are pure, God accepts our work done in love.

Ecclesiastes 2:10:
And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my HEART REJOICED in all my labour: and this was my portion of all my labour.

Ecclesiastes 5:20:
For he shall not much remember the days of his life; because God answereth him in the JOY OF HIS HEART.

Ecclesiastes 9:7:
Go thy way, eat thy bread with JOY, and drink thy wine with a MERRY HEART; for God now accepteth thy works.

What gives our hearts the greatest joy, and causes them to “burn within us” [Luke 24:32]? Understand God’s Word about His Son, Jesus Christ. We are called by God’s name, He is our Father, because of all Jesus did for us.

Jeremiah 15:16:
Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and THY WORD WAS UNTO ME THE JOY AND REJOICING OF MINE HEART: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.

Jesus’ disciples were sad when he told them he would die and leave them. But their joy was great when they saw their risen Lord and later received the holy spirit on the day of Pentecost!

John 16:22 :
And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and YOUR HEART SHALL REJOICE, and YOUR JOY NO MAN TAKETH FROM YOU.

Don’t cry or fret or worry! Jesus paid the price for our forgiveness from sin and our physical healing. No man can take his joy away from us. It is part of the fruit we see in our lives when we walk by the spirit.

Galatians 5:2,23:
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, JOY, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Amen. I love you.
