We Can Love, Even If We Don’t Like

Being FREE in Christ, we can love ANYONE with God’s love.

Sherry and I send a daily scripture to many friends [we are happy to send to you also if you send me your email at FreedomLifeLight@gmail.com], and this was one response to a recent scripture:

SCRIPTURE WE SENT:
Let’s love and be thankful for our family of God this June 11

1 Thessalonians 4:9,10:
But as touching BROTHERLY LOVE ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are TAUGHT OF GOD TO LOVE one another.
And indeed ye do it toward all the BRETHREN which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye INCREASE MORE AND MORE.
💖
We are taught by God how to love each other. His spirit dwells in us and we have the scriptures to show us how. Let’s increase in our love “more and more” with the believers that we have the joy of being with.

HIS QUESTION:
This is another very interesting scripture. Here on earth there are Christians I do not like ore even being around. When we all get to heaven will the dislike go away, or are there so many people in heaven I will not have to associate with Christians I do not like here on earth?

AND MY RESPONSE:
I think at that point there’s no sorrow or crying. I think all that past evil is washed away. I think we’ll get along pretty well. together!. Love you.

Living here on earth, we don’t have to [AND SHOULDN’T] LIKE everything that other believers do. Sometimes Christians can be the most hurtful people because they think that they are so righteous and that God is telling them everything [when He’s NOT, which you can tell by their fruit]. Yes, we don’t LIKE what every Christian brother or sister does, but we ARE TO LOVE THEM WITH THE LOVE OF CHRIST. It never fails, and nothing can separate us from it.

1 Corinthians 13:8 [The Passion Translation]:
Love NEVER STOPS loving.

Romans 8:39 [The Passion Translation]:
There is no power above us or beneath us—no power that could ever be found in the universe that can distance us from GOD’S PASSIONATE LOVE, which is lavished upon us THROUGH OUR LORD JESUS, the Anointed One!

A little later in this epistle to the Romans, Paul has some good practical advice on how TO LIVE LOVE. The context of Chapter 12 is how the one body of Christ can live and work together.

Romans 12:17-21:
Recompense [pay back] to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, LIVE PEACEABLY with ALL men [believers].
Dearly beloved, AVENGE NOT YOURSELVES, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
Therefore if thine enemy hunger, FEED him; if he thirst, GIVE him DRINK: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire [bring WARMTH AND COMFORT] on his head.
Be not overcome of evil, but OVERCOME EVIL WITH GOOD.

WOW! So many practical things to remember about life with other Christians.

  • We don’t give evil in return for their evil
  • We live peaceably with others as much as we are able
  • We don’t seek our own justice, but allow God to set things right
  • We lovingly help those in physical, mental [emotional], and spiritual need, bringing them comfort
  • We overcome the adversary’s evil with our Father’s goodness through Christ in us

Within the last week, Sherry and I helped two Christians in great financial need because of some challenging circumstances that they faced. It was our joy to do this, because we had to give. That is also what the Christians did in the early church. Here’s a blog on Giving in the Church Today.

Let’s do our best to live in peace with other believers, knowing that at Christ’s return, everything will be sorted out.

Amen. I love you.
