This blog marks the beginning of a new journey for me and I plan on taking you with me, dear reader, if you are willing. I recently pulled out an ancient map that was a beloved part of my youth, and it is the map of Jesus’ life on earth, the good news of the Savior as recorded in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
Recently, each morning before the school day began, I noticed a young student sitting alone outside my classroom door. Talking with her I learned she was a devout Christian, and we prayed together for God’s blessings in our lives. Later that day, I asked her how God had blessed her. She said that a prayer was answered—she wanted one person at the school to understand her. “And that person,” she said, “is you!”
Jesus Christ died for us while we were still sinners. He loved the unlovable. We weren’t even “good.” We were unlovable—at least from a human point of view. But Jesus Christ was able to take on his mission, his calling, to die for us because he lived with his Father’s love.
Jesus Christ was maligned and criticized more than any man—but he always remembered who God made him to be. At times, when the Devil tries to accuse and condemn us, it’s good to remember who God made us to be and what He thinks of us.
God’s truth is unbreakable, complete, everlasting, and perfect.
Deuteronomy 32:4:
He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.
Gene and I bought a home in Guam, the largest purchase of our married life up to that point. We agreed on a purchase price of $75,000 with the seller of a typhoon-secure, concrete, 900-square-foot house on a third of an acre of land in the village of Talofofo.

As the public information officer for the territorial prison on Guam, I was “inside” every day. Inmates lived in small cells and were physically confined to a few square yards of “life.” They had surrendered their freedom.
